Awakened Heart

Awakened Heart

All Level ✺ 7 - 12 April 2026 ✺ La Viñuela, Andalusia, Spain

One of Yoga’s promises is to help us rediscover a space inside of ourselves that is beyond all sorrow ~ a joy or contentment that has literally no opposite; that can accompany us in all of life’s trials and tribulations, offering that promised space of peace and ease, the internal sweetness that will stand alongside us in what is, at times, undeniably hard.

Part of this rediscovery is in remembering the language and luminosity of the heart.

This retreat is an invitation to journey deep, deep within, into the cave of the heart, where the light of your own soul, the knowing of your inner teacher can begin to reveal itself to you. If you have felt at a crossroads, stuck in confusion or overwhelm, or simply find yourself at a place where you seek a deeper source of nourishment, then the work of the heart might be for you.

Together we’ll weave the wisdom bodies of Yoga, Ayurveda, Tantra & neuroscience into our week through contemplation, exploration of source wisdom and embodied practice where we can live in the question of “how do mind and heart meet?”

Mornings will comprise of a complete practice (asana, pranayama & meditation) that weave Yogic philosophy & understanding into the fabric of the experience. The afternoons will alternate between the restorative practices that help us to balance & regulate the nervous system, inviting deep rest into the cells of the body (Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, Sound Healing) and, or workshops that provide an opportunity to further unpack the teachings of Yoga and delve deeper into the heart.

Journalling and self enquiry will play an important role in our time together, as a means to spark greater clarity, growth and transformation. Mantra will also feature across the week as a way to further nurture & nourish the experience.

All levels are welcome – the only requirement is a curious heart.

Chrissie Chung

Chrissie Chung is a student and teacher of the Himalayan Tradition. She has been studying, practicing and sharing Yoga extensively for 10+ years.

Expect deep practices that are woven together with philosophy, intelligent use of the breath, self study, contemplation & meditation.

Garden of Wisdom

Garden of Wisdom - fully booked

Mittelstufe ✺ 25. - 31. August 2024 ✺ In Sabina, Rieti, Italy

Slow Down

Slow down

All Level ✺ 19- 25 Oct ✺ Casa Erica, Málaga, Spain

Amid the fast pace of our everyday lives, we hear a call for deep rest. Just as night follows day and summer fades into fall, our bodies are called into retreat to recover from the depth of life and to bring balance to the rush of experience.

On this retreat, you will ease into a pace of rest and relaxation with gentle flows, easeful days, and a general pace of life that matches exactly what the body needs to escape the cycle of day-to-day stressors. As your nervous system calms, you’ll feel a boost in your immune system and leave feeling a soft glow from within.

Our morning sessions will start with meditation and pranayama to focus our minds. We will take that focus into a gentle flow, followed by yin and restorative poses. In these sessions, there will be little or no vinyasas (moving from high plank to low plank to upward-facing dog), making this retreat very suitable for those with wrist, elbow, or shoulder injuries.

The afternoon sessions will include restorative yoga, yoga nidra (guided meditation while laying down), mantra singing, and conversations about the practical application of yoga philosophy for daily life circumstances.

Fleur van Hille

Fleur has been a student and teacher of yoga since 2009 when her career as a professional dancer transformed into a love for yoga’s physical postures, breathing exercises, mantras, and meditation. Since then, her training has spanned the globe and expanded to include advanced postures, philosophy, yoga nidra, and yoga therapeutics.

As a teacher, Fleur is creative and supportive. Her playlists offer a carefully crafted, steady beat that will carry you through flowing transitions and intentional holds. She offers options for all levels, so everyone feels held and at ease, and if there is one thing that characterizes her classes, workshops, and retreats, it is the feeling of being connected. She brings a warmth and joy to her classes that open the door for her students to experience both playfulness and stillness.

Fleur has been teaching yoga retreats with Yoga Spirit Circle since the very beginning. She has returned again and again because her retreats offer a truly profound experience of yoga. She will both guide you and inspire you to explore yoga as a way of living and an experience—one in which our hearts expand to include all of life as one spiritual whole.

Dolce Far Niente

Dolce Far Niente - The Sweetness of Doing Nothing

All Level ✺ 20-26 August ✺ In Sabina, Rieti, Italy

One of Yoga’s greatest gifts (of which there are many) is that it opens us to the simple sweet nothings that are really quite something. To see magic even in the most mundane. To appreciate more and more of life. To feel satisfaction simply because we exist.

When we start to slow down, there comes a point where we can land back into the somewhat familiar feeling of stillness and begin to remember what it is to be at ease within ourselves, and as such at ease within the world around us.

This retreat is an opportunity to do just that; to slow down and invite deep, replenishing rest into the cells of your body. To know nourishment as something that gives to you without taking anything else away. To find the deliciousness of space, and experience stillness as so much more than a physical act, and come to know it as a joyful feeling that arises under the right conditions.

Mornings will comprise of a complete practice (asana, pranayama & meditation) that weave Yogic philosophy/ understanding into the fabric of your experience. The afternoons will alternate between restorative practices that help us to balance & regulate the nervous system, inviting deep rest for body, mind & soul (Guided Relaxation, Yoga Nidra, Meditation etc) and, or workshops that provide an opportunity to further unpack some of Yoga’s essential teachings as it pertains to the power of presence, rest, and emotional resilience.

Journalling and self enquiry will play a large role in our experience together, as a means to spark greater clarity, growth and transformation.

Beginner & All Level ✺ 22-28 October 2023 ✺ La Viñuela Andalusia, Spain

A reset for body mind and soul.
Join us for a six day Yin Yoga & Somatics retreat, linked to the meridian theory & organ health, as well as cleansing pranayama (breathwork) practices and gentle somatic flows to attain balance.

During this retreat, you will nourish your entire system through targeted meridian practices and activate your body’s own healing powers.
Boost your immune system and start glowing from the inside out.

The yin practice will open up different meridians working from the inside out and the somatic flows will support a healthy flow of energy throughout the system.

Yin practice doesn’t require a lot of energetic effort, instead we are creating a rest and digest practice for the body to optimise the organ’s functions.

Additionally we will bring balance with gentle somatic flows, mantra practices and well chosen musical elements throughout the practical sessions.

Each day’s practice will focus on a different element ( earth, water, fire, air & ether), linked to a specific organ pair.
Yin will allow us to restore chi in our organs and the somatic work, accompanied by pranayama ( breathwork) will support a healthy flow of chi/prana ( bio energy)

Expect a nourishing week, where our main focus lies on connecting our inner with outer world – harmonising and connecting with the five elements present within and all around us at all times!

There will also be an introductory workshop offered on traditional Chinese medicine & yoga.
A week of self care, nourishment, heart based Somatics and mantra practices surrounded by nature.

Janine Behrendt

Janine’s Yoga journey started in 2008 during her late teens after being in show dance for a decade. First for the physical relief but not long after that for the feeling of wholeness, a calm mind and the ability to see things differently.

In 2013 she completed her first 200 hour Multi- Style Yoga Teacher Training in Dharamsala, India with Trimurti Yoga School (RYS), focused on Yogic anatomy and various different styles like Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin which she personally likes to combine during her own practice and therefore share that experience with her students – “Different bodies, different needs. Its about finding the balance (tula) in everything .”

In 2017, she completed a 300 hour Jivamukti Teacher Training under the guidance of Sharon Gannon (Co-founder of the method) , Yogeswari and Moritz Ulrich. Later in 2017 she started studying and practing the Insight Yoga method as taught by Sarah Powers.

2018 she completed an apprenticeship program with her mentor Miriam Iannone (advanced certified Jivamukti teacher) who has shared with her the art of sequencing and hands on assists.

2020 she completed a Yin Yoga Teacher Training focused on functional anatomy and TCM practice with Sebastien Pucelle and Murielle Burrelier (With-Yin Yoga).

She is currently diving into the therapeutic approach of Iyengar Yoga as well as doing in depth studies into the field of Kundalini Yoga practices, integrating and exploring the benefits of Pranayama ( breathwork). Janine continues to explore the blend of various different styles and likes to share the benefits of a well balanced Yoga practice , integrating Yin and Yang sequences supported by Yogic teachings , gracefully incorporating music to assist those benefits .

Beginners, All Levels ✺ 25- 31 May 2023 ✺ Casa Erica, Málaga, Spain

Yoga is, at its core, a practice that calms the mind. Our lives are often stressful, full of inevitable interruptions and challenges to overcome. Yoga gives us a tool to stay centered and to approach each challenge with serenity.
Over the course of our time together, we’ll explore these benefits through poses, breath work, and mantra singing.
We’ll learn the essentials of yoga and explore the myths and texts, which are the base of yoga philosophy and inspired this ancient practice.

In the mornings, we will move our bodies in a dynamic, playful morning flow. The basic asanas will be explained and some asanas we will practice together with a partner, allowing you to move deeper into the poses and feel the alignment.

In the afternoons, we’ll explore quieter practices like yoga nidra – a guided meditation, restorative yoga – a practice of deep relaxation, and singing. We’ll learn how to release the subtle layers of tension in the body and open ourselves up to space, to relief, and to breath.

Each day, we’ll come together over delicious meals to share, connect, and laugh. You’ll find inspiration and friendship in others, and perhaps in yourself as well. When it’s finally time to return home, you’ll leave feeling restored, reenergised, and fortified to take on whatever life gives you.

This retreat is perfect for everyone completely or relatively new to yoga. All levels are welcome though.

She will both guide you and inspire you to explore yoga as a way of living and an experience—one in which our hearts expand to include all of life as one spiritual whole.

about the place

Casa Erica is where it all begun and where we host retreats since 2014. It is a home to us, which we love to share. Peacefully located on the coast of Andalusia, between Málaga and Nerja. The beach in walking distance.

What we love most about it are the pastel sunsets, the wild beaches and the laid back Andalusian mentality. Also our dog Alpha and cat Hanuman live here. More

The Medicine of Awareness

The Medicine of Awareness

All Level ✺ 8- 14 June ✺ Casa Erica, Málaga, Spain

This retreat is a mission of grace. Trapped in a masculine led society we can, quite easily, get overwhelmed by action and results, pushed forward into ‘doing’ as opposed to just ‘being’, we might feel stripped of our connection of what it feels like to be feminine. But seek and you shall find.

This week with Imogen will be an opportunity to slow down, practice more introspective, tender practices so you can instinctively seek out what is authentic to the feminine you. We will call on the supernatural feminine to guide and teach us the path of inner awakening – restoring our vital energies so we can move forward from this week with wisdom.

Through your senses and your intuition you will harness your power, embodying all that you feel, enabling you to trust in a greater guiding wisdom in all aspects of your life. As we work through the week we will shine light on self-limiting belief, habit, patterns, judgment. You can use this awareness as your medicine to begin to lift the veil leaving the week focused, clear and bright.

Each morning will include a slow embodied vinyasa practice heavily interwoven with meditations, self-enquiry, yin and goddess ritual. Each evening you can join a lunar practice which will be either yin or restorative in nature (or a combination of the two). There will also be plenty of down-time to pause, to rest or to enjoy the sights and sounds of the local area.

Imogen North

Imogen hails from London, England and is now based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.  She trained initially under the expert eye of Katy Appleton and primarily teaches Yin and dynamic Vinyasa flow descended from the Krishnamacharya lineage.

Imogen enhanced her teaching becoming one of Judith Hanson Lasater’s Relax and Renew® certified restorative yoga teachers and continues to train with her teacher Tiffany Cruikshank towards her Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist certification.

Imogen is passionate about helping people make changes in their lives. Her teaching fuses anatomy, physiology and biomechanics with traditional Eastern yogic practices; tantra, ritual, and a deep reverence for nature.

Imogen’s teaching honours the lineages of all of her teachers and through her teaching she hopes to inspire possibility and encourage self-awareness, awakening your authentic creativity as a yoga practitioner in the modern world. Imogen fiercely believes that yoga is for everyone, that it is a vital tradition that transcends all race and religion, fundamental in all of our lives more so now than ever before.

Slow English All Level Yin La Viñuela, Spain April Restorative Hatha Nidra Chrissie Chung

The Journey Home

The Journey Home

All Level ✺ 14-20 April 2023 ✺ La Viñuela Andalusia, Spain

One of Yoga’s greatest promises is to move us towards an experience of life that is infused with lasting fulfilment, ultimate freedom and a joy that is untouched by external circumstance. We taste the essence of that place by coming to understand the nature of our mind, its tendencies, and how we may best use its potential in service to our growth.

This retreat is an opportunity to dive a litter deeper, in an embodied way, where the teachings can begin to reveal themselves to you, through the direct experience of your own practice. Together we’ll explore traditional source wisdom, alongside the practices that help breathe life into all of it in a way that feels meaningful to you.

Mornings will comprise of a complete practice (asana, pranayama & meditation) that weave Yogic philosophy/ understanding into the fabric of the experience. The afternoons will alternate between restorative practices that help us to balance & regulate the nervous system, inviting deep rest into the cells of the body (Yoga Nidra, Meditation etc) and, or workshops that provide an opportunity to further unpack Yoga’s essential teachings.

Journalling and self enquiry will play a large role in our experience together, as a means to spark greater clarity, growth and transformation.

Chrissie Chung

Chrissie Chung is a student and teacher of the Himalayan Tradition. She has been studying, practicing and sharing Yoga extensively for the last 7 years.

Her heart is firmly rooted in sharing the far-reaching potential of practice, using its various tools as a means to serve the individual in finding their own unique way to rediscover their truest essence.

She offers the richness of Traditional Tantric Hatha Yoga, inviting you to embrace your practice as a spiritual science. Move with purpose, breathe with wisdom and begin the journey of turning your attention in, returning to a state of Being that is inherently whole.

Expect deep practices intertwined with philosophy, intelligent use of the breath, self study, contemplation & meditation.
