Culinary Yoga Retreat

Our signature Yoga & Culinary Retreats are perfect for those interested in plant- based cuisine eager to learn more or simply get inspired.

Join us for a week of cultivation. We will be learning how to move from fear to faith.  Cultivating the mind and body of the spiritual warrior, rising above our own limitations, remaining unattached to the outcomes of life circumstances, staying centered and physically, mentally and emotionally.  

Through the week we will explore three pathways; action, devotion and knowledge. You will begin to connect to the strength, stability and power that already lies within you leaving the week standing strong in your true self. As you return to the battlefield we call life you will be empowered to live a life of integrity and truth, embracing your full warrior potential.

This retreat is about tapping into your warrior potential.  Often in life what really holds us back from our own power is our fears.  

Each morning will include a strong vinyasa practice interwoven with yoga mythology, meditations, self-enquiry, and goddess ritual. Each evening you can join a lunar practice which will be either yin or restorative in nature (or a combination of the two). There will also be plenty of down-time to pause, to rest or to enjoy the sights and sounds of the local area.

Imogen North

Imogen hails from London, England and is now based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.  She trained initially under the expert eye of Katy Appleton and primarily teaches Yin and dynamic Vinyasa flow descended from the Krishnamacharya lineage.  

Imogen enhanced her teaching becoming one of Judith Hanson Lasater’s Relax and Renew® certified restorative yoga teachers and continues to train with her teacher Tiffany Cruikshank towards her Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist certification. 

Imogen is passionate about helping people make changes in their lives. Her teaching fuses anatomy, physiology and biomechanics with traditional Eastern yogic practices; tantra, ritual, and a deep reverence for nature.  

Imogen’s teaching honours the lineages of all of her teachers and through her teaching she hopes to inspire possibility and encourage self-awareness, awakening your authentic creativity as a yoga practitioner in the modern world. Imogen fiercely believes that yoga is for everyone, that it is a vital tradition that transcends all race and religion, fundamental in all of our lives more so now than ever before.

Culinary Workshops:
Nourish and Connect

The process of cooking and eating food does not have to be a chore–it can be a celebration. With Caro, you will feel the collective energy of cooking as a community, sharing laughter, tips, and the recognition of the land as provider of everything. You’ll eat a variety of food that not only feed your belly but nourish your soul. Disconnect from the utility of consuming and reconnect with the idea that food is more than just food—it is the core of community, of connection, of life.

In the afternoons, we’ll gather around the kitchen for three different vegan workshops:

  • Fermentation: learn the basics and the benefits of this ancient practice
  • Pasta: a hands-on adventure in preparing 3 different pastas and sauces
  • Galette: a sensory affair of both sweet and savory

In the evenings, the dinner table will become our social experience where we will feast on the soulful meals we created, sharing mouth-watering bites and the stories that bind our hearts to one another.

You’ll leave this retreat with a greater ease in the kitchen, technical skills and a recipe e-book, and a deeper connection to your own intuition so you can flow beyond the recipes to create meals that bring you both joy and sustenance.

About Caro Gante

Retreat chef and integrative nutrition health coach Caro will guide you with her creative approach through three workshops in which she’ll share her knowledge and passion for wholesome vegan food. Next to essential ideas of the plant-based cuisine Caro will introduce to you a variety of her favorite recipes which are designed for experienced cooks as well as curious-minded yogis that are new to the world of vegan cooking.

On this retreat, you’ll level up your cooking skills and confidence in the kitchen while also getting a better understanding of holistic health and wellbeing.

Wie oft suchen wir im Außen was uns glücklich macht? Wie oft treffen wir Entscheidungen, weil es gesellschaftlich anerkannt wäre und verlieren dabei den Blick auf uns und unser Herz?

Das Free Spirit Retreat soll dir wieder mehr Zugang und Vertrauen zu dir schenken, um dein Herz öffnen und ein Leben zu führen, dass dich wirklich glücklich macht. 

Alle Entscheidungen, die wir im Außen treffen bringen uns oft weg von dem, was unser Herz eigentlich will und wir verschließen uns vor dem Fluss des Lebens. Je mehr wir vertrauen, desto mehr fangen wir wieder an auf unsere innere Stimme zu hören. Das Leben ist zu kurz, um es so zu leben, dass die anderen glücklich sind und du auf der Strecke bleibst. Schenk dir eine Woche Auszeit, nimm dir Zeit für dich  den Blick wieder nach innen zu richten und dir zu erlauben, dich vom Leben tragen zu lassen, indem wir wieder mehr ins fühlen kommen und weg gehen vom überdenken. 

Jeder Tag beginnt in Stille mit einer Meditation gefolgt von einer dynamischen Yoga Einheit. 

Am Nachmittag nehmen wir uns Zeit, um nach innen zu schauen. Wir variieren das Nachmittagsprogramm mit entspannenden Yoga Einheiten, Journal anstoßen, Traumreisen oder Embodiment.

Du solltest eine regelmäßige Asana Praxis haben und Lust auf dynamische, fordernde Klassen.

Die Yogapraxis hat Christina gelehrt sich so zu nehmen und akzeptieren wie sie ist. Entscheidungen aus dem Herzen zu treffen und immer wieder bei sich ankommen.

Geprägt durch ihre frühere Zeit als Tänzerin sind ihre Klassen verspielt, dynamisch und körperlich fordernd.

In ihrem Unterricht möchte sie dir einen Raum schaffen, in dem du dich frei machen darfst von all den äußerlichen Erwartungen und dir erlauben darfst bei dir anzukommen, im Hier und Jetzt. In ihren Klassen verschmelzen Tradition und Moderne wie ein Tanz ineinander. Du tauchst über die Atmung und Bewegung zu elektronischen Klängen in deiner Zone ab. Christina bringt dich an deine körperlichen Grenzen auf eine liebevolle Art und Weise und lässt dich erkennen, dass du zu jeder Zeit in dir vollkommen bist.

The Medicine of Awareness

This retreat is a mission of grace. Trapped in a masculine led society we can, quite easily, get overwhelmed by action and results, pushed forward into ‘doing’ as opposed to just ‘being’, we might feel stripped of our connection of what it feels like to be feminine. But seek and you shall find.  

This week with Imogen will be an opportunity to slow down, practice more introspective, tender practices so you can instinctively seek out what is authentic to the feminine you. We will call on the supernatural feminine to guide and teach us the path of inner awakening – restoring our vital energies so we can move forward from this week with wisdom.  

Through your senses and your intuition you will harness your power, embodying all that you feel, enabling you to trust in a greater guiding wisdom in all aspects of your life. As we work through the week we will shine light on self-limiting belief, habit, patterns, judgment. You can use this awareness as your medicine to begin to lift the veil leaving the week focused, clear and bright.

Alignment is internal work, meaning what matters most is that we live from the truth that speaks to us through our spiritual hearts.

When we initially came to the practice the shifts we felt may have been primarily physical, but as we increase the frequency and the dimension of our practice we begin to sense something deeper is calling to us. Yogic practices provide us with tools for introspection. And with this we’re able to recognise our truth, and take action from a place of inner alignment. This does not have to look like a radical external change, you don’t have to leave the modern world and go and live in an ashram, you can live from this place of deep alignment right there where you are – and this is the most radical realisation.  

During this week long retreat we will create space to learn, grow and deepen our connection to practice. So that you can return to your life feeling nourished and refreshed, ready for all that is coming. 

Each morning will start with chanting, meditation & pranayama, followed by a deep & purposeful asana practice. The afternoons will be a mixture of workshops designed to explore specific aspects of the practice in more detail.

Rowena Johnson

Rowena is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher, and a 200hr & 300hr teacher trainer, who has been practicing yoga since 2008.

With a personal practice of Ashtanga and Jivamukti, Rowena’s classes are strong, purposeful and interspersed with personal insights, spoken word and uplifting music. The alchemy created is inspiring and potent, far beyond the mat.

Whilst based in Berlin, Rowena teaches internationally on yoga teacher trainings, workshops and retreats.

Life can be hectic, keeping us on a hamster wheel of thoughts and worries. On this retreat, you’re invited to break free from this state of being by opening and listening to the wisdom of your heart – out of your head, into your heart.

Each day, we’ll flow through our yoga practice, carried by inspiring musical vibrations, and sing mantras that fill us with joy. We’ll use the breath to soothe our nerves and take deep rest with Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra, creating the stillness we need to see ourselves as we really are. And we’ll use the stories and myths behind the asanas as a playful way of understanding life’s universal themes – and looking at our own situations with a fresh perspective.

This shared journey will remind you that you are part of a bigger whole and connect you to the abundant joy that comes with this experience. You’ll learn to let sadness and pain flow through you, gently widening your compassion towards yourself and others. Above all, you will discover that freedom from worry doesn’t come from controlling your outer world, but from trusting yourself in this very moment.

People often describe me as a warm and sunny person with an intuitive approach to teaching yoga. I like hearing this description because it shows that I’ve made a real connection with my students. And if there’s one thing about yoga that I love the most and which characterizes my classes, workshops and retreats, it’s the feeling of being connected.

A retreat offers us the possibility of a truly profound experience of yoga. Surrounded by nature and among like-minded people from every corner of the world, a unique journey unfolds. Conversations open up, emotions are untapped, and discoveries are made…

In the quiet of each morning, we begin our yoga practice in stillness, taking time to anchor our awareness in the present moment through a guided breathing exercise, a meditation or visualisation. Then, drawing on the energy of the rising sun and the freshness of a brand-new day, I lead you through a vinyasa flow that is both gentle and energising.

During the dip in energy that tends to follow lunchtime, the sessions slow down, allowing for a deeper exploration of the techniques and practices encountered earlier in the day. There’s also plenty of time for sinking into a profound state of relaxation with restorative or yin yoga, or even yoga nidra (yogic sleep) – sometimes accompanied by mantras, music, or myths.

we need a negative corona test (antigen or PCR) 48 hours prior to arrival via email. additionally we will test at check-in and during the retreat every guest needs to bring 6 self-tests. we ask participants during the week to take one or more tests for the groups safety.

about the place

Casa Erica is where it all begun and where we host retreats since 2014. It is a home to us, which we love to share. Peacefully located on the coast of Andalusia, between Málaga and Nerja. The beach in walking distance.

What we love most about it are the pastel sunsets, the wild beaches and the laid back Andalusian mentality. Also our dog Alpha and cat Hanuman live here. More
