Slow Beginner Gentle English October All Level Jivamukti Yin Restorative La Viñuela, Spain

Slow down

Slow Down

Beginner & All Level ✺ 22-28 October 2023 ✺ La Viñuela Andalusia, Spain

A reset for body mind and soul.
Join us for a six day Yin Yoga & Somatics retreat, linked to the meridian theory & organ health, as well as cleansing pranayama (breathwork) practices and gentle somatic flows to attain balance.

During this retreat, you will nourish your entire system through targeted meridian practices and activate your body’s own healing powers.
Boost your immune system and start glowing from the inside out.

The yin practice will open up different meridians working from the inside out and the somatic flows will support a healthy flow of energy throughout the system.

Yin practice doesn’t require a lot of energetic effort, instead we are creating a rest and digest practice for the body to optimise the organ’s functions.

Additionally we will bring balance with gentle somatic flows, mantra practices and well chosen musical elements throughout the practical sessions.

Each day’s practice will focus on a different element ( earth, water, fire, air & ether), linked to a specific organ pair.
Yin will allow us to restore chi in our organs and the somatic work, accompanied by pranayama ( breathwork) will support a healthy flow of chi/prana ( bio energy)

Expect a nourishing week, where our main focus lies on connecting our inner with outer world – harmonising and connecting with the five elements present within and all around us at all times!

There will also be an introductory workshop offered on traditional Chinese medicine & yoga.
A week of self care, nourishment, heart based Somatics and mantra practices surrounded by nature.

Janine Behrendt

Janine’s Yoga journey started in 2008 during her late teens after being in show dance for a decade. First for the physical relief but not long after that for the feeling of wholeness, a calm mind and the ability to see things differently.

In 2013 she completed her first 200 hour Multi- Style Yoga Teacher Training in Dharamsala, India with Trimurti Yoga School (RYS), focused on Yogic anatomy and various different styles like Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha and Yin which she personally likes to combine during her own practice and therefore share that experience with her students – “Different bodies, different needs. Its about finding the balance (tula) in everything .”

In 2017, she completed a 300 hour Jivamukti Teacher Training under the guidance of Sharon Gannon (Co-founder of the method) , Yogeswari and Moritz Ulrich. Later in 2017 she started studying and practing the Insight Yoga method as taught by Sarah Powers.

2018 she completed an apprenticeship program with her mentor Miriam Iannone (advanced certified Jivamukti teacher) who has shared with her the art of sequencing and hands on assists.

2020 she completed a Yin Yoga Teacher Training focused on functional anatomy and TCM practice with Sebastien Pucelle and Murielle Burrelier (With-Yin Yoga).

She is currently diving into the therapeutic approach of Iyengar Yoga as well as doing in depth studies into the field of Kundalini Yoga practices, integrating and exploring the benefits of Pranayama ( breathwork). Janine continues to explore the blend of various different styles and likes to share the benefits of a well balanced Yoga practice , integrating Yin and Yang sequences supported by Yogic teachings , gracefully incorporating music to assist those benefits .

Practice of Liberation

Practice of Liberation

Intermediate ✺ 13- 19 July ✺ Casa Erica, Málaga, Spain

Jivanmukta means liberated while living, and refers to a person who has gained complete self-knowledge and self-realisation. It’s easy to overlook that the practices of yoga are designed for this purpose, which is why it is so potent when we set aside time to go deeper into our practices.

Perhaps the beginning of living liberated is to recognise that we are not limited to the roles we may have in this lifetime. We not defined by our careers, nor by our possessions, nor by any other external factors. So why should we hold so tightly onto these identities. Whats more, those of us truly aspiring to live liberated must recognise that we are but one cell in the body of all of life. So how can we live in a way that inspires harmony?

During this week we will explore the relationship between asana and intention. Between breath and the awakening of our full consciousness.

Each morning will start with chanting, meditation & pranayama, followed by a deep & purposeful asana practice. The afternoons will be a mixture of workshops designed to explore specific aspects of the practice in more detail.

Intermediate: This retreat is recommended for those who have at least one year of experience in practicing yoga asana.

Reconnect

Reconnect

All level ✺ 24- 30 Aug ✺ Casa Erica, Málaga, Spain

We spend our days surrounded by friends, family, work, and other commitments. But even the most fulfilling of these activities can leave us feeling pulled in too many directions with too many drains on our time and energy. It can be difficult to find the space to breathe, the space to connect, and that can leave us feeling blocked and directionless.

This retreat will help you reconnect to your strength, your intuition, and your voice. We will explore mindful movements and flows that leave you feeling more in tune – body, mind, and soul. We will harness the power of the elements and form a deeper connection with nature, with our body, and with our soul. Through these sessions, new tools will emerge to help you come back into your power and shine even brighter than you already do.

Join us and learn how to reconnect with your true self and the gentle inner voice that guides you home.

This retreat is recommended for those who have at least one year of experience in practicing yoga asana.

Freedom of the Heart

Freedom of the Heart

Intermediate ✺ 13- 19 August ✺ In Sabina, Rieti, Italy

Alignment is internal work, meaning what matters most is that we live from the truth that speaks to us through our spiritual hearts.

When we initially came to the practice the shifts we felt may have been primarily physical, but as we increase the frequency and the dimension of our practice we begin to sense something deeper is calling to us. Yogic practices provide us with tools for introspection. And with this we’re able to recognise our truth, and take action from a place of inner alignment. This does not have to look like a radical external change, you don’t have to leave the modern world and go and live in an ashram, you can live from this place of deep alignment right there where you are – and this is the most radical realisation.

During this week long retreat we will create space to learn, grow and deepen our connection to practice. So that you can return to your life feeling nourished and refreshed, ready for all that is coming.

Each morning will start with chanting, meditation & pranayama, followed by a deep & purposeful asana practice. The afternoons will be a mixture of workshops designed to explore specific aspects of the practice in more detail.

Intermediate: This retreat is recommended for those who have a consistent weekly yoga practice.

Endless Summer

Endless Summer

Intermediate ✺ 21- 27 September ✺ Casa Erica, Málaga, Spain

Let´s dive together into a feeling of “endless summer”, immersing into the practice with a welcoming, kind and fun group.

The new moon marks the starting point of our retreat. New moon stands for new beginnings. A positive outlook on what is to come for us individually and collectively. A spark of inspiration for what we want to create.

Removed from the daily hustle of our everyday lives, we gather as complete human beings in interaction with one another. Come for time alone or come for time with others – your needs are welcome.

We offer you a retreat where you can be fully yourself. Take things with lightness and ease, as we explore the magic of the practice together. The most insightful spiritual teachings happen, when we feel open and safe. It is in those moments that we can truly let go and allow ourselves to become receptive. If you feel called to join us, we will embark on this journey together.

This retreat is truly uplifting, joyful and full of moments of deep connection.

The practice

The morning asana classes will be the full package – a vigorous practice, fun and sweaty with a soundtrack that will make you want to dance, chanting which softens the heart and dharma (philosophy talk) that sparks new ideas for the spiritual path.

We recommend some experience with Jivamukti Yoga or Vinyasa/Ashtanga Yoga (you can join online classes or come to the studio in Berlin or elsewhere).

The afternoon practice is usually held in workshop style where we dive deeper into a topic. Some asana related, some focussing on a chakra or on a teaching. In any case we go deep here.

Some evenings are spent with Satsang (chanting or meditation together and some philosophy) where you get to connect or simply be inspired by the teachings.

Level Intermediate: You should have a regular asana practice and expect dynamic, challenging classes.

Dana_Sertel_Philippa_van_Heyden

We – Dana & Philippa – will be hosting our second retreat together at Yoga Spirit Circle. Each time we teach a retreat together, we are also asked to show up for each other and for the retreat group and each time we are even more surprised by the amount of love, joy and connection we get to experience.

Dana Sertel (Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher)

Dana is based in Berlin where she practices and teaches daily – Ashtanga and Jivamukti Yoga. She cares a great deal about authenticity and vulnerability. She is giving thanks to her teachers, who always accompanied her with a loving eye, while giving her the tools she needed. Her classes are vigorous and always come with carefully curated music.
Danas website

Philippa Heyden (Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher)

In early 2015 she completed the Teacher Training at Radhanath Swami’s magical Govardhan Eco Village in India with her teachers Sharon Gannon, David Life, Lady Ruth and Jules Febre under her mentor Yogeswari.

What inspires her about Jivamukti Yoga is the combination of intensive asana practice, meditation, chanting, various styles of music, pranayama, awareness and awareness of the direct and indirect environment.

Time to Bloom

Time to Bloom

All Level ✺ 11- 17 May ✺ Casa Erica, Málaga, Spain

We retreat to remind ourselves we do not exist alone. We are always interconnected, supporting each other, and helping each other to bloom.

After a long winter of hibernation, we crawl out of our cozy dens that kept us warm, ready to shed the layers of cold and dust. It is a time to make space for new beginnings, and just like the world around us, it is time to bloom.

Like the first dip into the spring ocean tides, we will immerse ourselves in the fresh joy of renewal. We will move our bodies, reconnect to our breath, and through these, create space for new ideas and inspiration.

We will begin each morning with meditation and pranayama, followed by a dynamic, sweaty Jivamukti yoga session. A carefully crafted playlist will help you find the beat that pulses within your own body. In the afternoons, we will dive into fundamentals workshops to embody alignment and gain a deeper connection with asana. We will explore yin yoga to find softness and rest, and our evenings will include satsang and kirtan as a space for questions, singing, and meditating together to bloom into our full potential.

Yoga is about connection. It is about relationships—our relationships with ourselves, with our friends, with people we have never met, with the planet and Mother Earth, and with a higher, cosmic consciousness. We will leverage these connections to come together and find new meaning in our own experiences.

"We are all walking each other home.” (Ram Dass)

Sheila Ilzhöfer

As a trained Jivamukti Yoga, Power Vinyasa and Yin Yoga teacher, Sheila has completed numerous trainings and participated in international workshops. She passes on in her classes what she learns and experiences in her own yoga practice.

Sheila sees yoga not as a purely physical practice, but as a holistic tool that allows us to explore our innermost selves with radical honesty. She firmly believes that we humans are never wrong or broken, but instead perfect as we are. Yogic practices help us remember this.

Expect challenging, dynamic Jivamukti Yoga classes full of lightness, always accompanied by a selected soundtrack. The asana practice is complemented with meditations, pranayama (breathing exercises) and chanting.

Sheila lives in Berlin and teaches yoga classes and workshops throughout Germany and Europe.

Summer Gathering

Summer Gathering

All Level ✺ in German 30 July- 5 August 2023 ✺ In Sabina, Rieti, Italy

about the place

It doesn’t seem possible that In Sabina is less than an hour’s drive from the crowded streets of Rome. With lush, abundant grounds of its own, along with a natural spring and a magnificent wooden yoga platform which overlooks the valley below, this is a truly magical place that’s ideal for spiritual practice, slowing down, and plunging oneself into nature. More

Freedom of the Heart

Freedom of the Heart

All Level ✺ 30 May- 5 June 2023 ✺ The Relais, Sorrento, Italy

Community days

Community days

Casa Erica, Málaga, Spain ✺ 1- 16 March 2026

The Community Days at Casa Erica are an invitation to slow down and experience everyday life in a warm and supportive community. You will stay in your own private room, and share the retreat kitchen with fellow travelers. Cooking and eating together quickly becomes one of the highlights of the experience — a chance to enjoy simple meals, exchange recipes, and gather around the table.

During your stay, you can join several yoga, pilates, or movement classes in our beautiful indoor shala. Beyond the classes, the shala is always open, offering you space for your own practice, meditation, or quiet reflection. In the evenings, we light the fireplace and come together in the cozy atmosphere of the living room — for conversation, laughter, or simply to relax side by side.

The days unfold with a natural rhythm: time for yourself, time in nature, and time to connect. You might take a walk to the beach, join an excursion with others, or share a spontaneous workshop or creative session. Participation is always optional — you choose how much community and how much solitude you need.

The spirit of these Community Days is one of openness and curiosity. It is not a fixed retreat program, but a shared living experience where each person contributes to the atmosphere. Optional services such as shared car rentals, massages, or local fruit and vegetable deliveries make life easier.

In short, the Community Days at Casa Erica offer a balance between independence and togetherness — a space where you can rest, create, and be inspired, while enjoying the company of like-minded people in the gentle light of the Andalusian coast.

Where

Casa Erica is where it all began — our home and the heart of our retreats since 2014. Nestled peacefully on the Andalusian coast, between Málaga and Nerja, it offers a serene setting just a short walk from the beach.

As the winters are mild over here we felt it would be a great idea to open our doors for everyone seeking more sunlight in that time.

What we love most about this place are the soft pastel sunsets, the untamed beaches, and the easygoing Andalusian spirit that fills the air. Casa Erica isn’t just a venue; it’s a home we cherish and love to share — along with our beloved companions, Alpha the dog and Hanuman the cat.

Here, time slows down, nature embraces you, and community comes to life.

What to expect

Nourishing Simplicity – Enjoy wholesome plant-based food, peaceful nature, and the grounding rhythm of slow living.

Shared Connection – Meet like-minded people and enjoy meaningful moments together through yoga, meals, and relaxed community life.
