Faqs in general

Read carefully the retreat description. We usually describe the teaching and yoga style of the teacher and  level. On the retreat overview page you can use the filters on top to find the best retreat for you.

we always recommend to have a few classes with the teacher you are planning to go on a retreat with. clearly, this is not always possible but many teachers offer online classes and here you find our youtube library with yoga videos of some of our teachers.

Beginner
This level is especially for yogis, who practice asanas 1 year or less. The pace will be slower and the basic alignments of asanas will be explained. Modifications will be offered.

All Level
The yoga teacher will offer modifications of asanas. The teacher will adapt the level to the level that the majority of the group has – it usually results in a beginner to medium level practice building up over the week. Usually there will be explanations of basic asanas (e.g. chaturanga), as well as explorations of asanas in depth (e.g. arm balances). The yoga teacher will offer modifications of asanas. The pace of the class will be according to the style of yoga and average level of all participants. In one retreat week you can learn a lot from our experienced yoga teachers in all facets that yoga offers (meditation, pranayama, philosophy, asana). If you are looking particularly for a challenging asana practice – please join one of our intermediate level retreats.

Intermediate
It is assumed that participants have a few years of yoga asana practice. Therefore we will explore asanas in depth and practice at a faster pace still offering modifications for different levels.

At the heart of Jivamukti Yoga is the belief that yoga is not just a physical exercise but a path to enlightenment and liberation. The practice incorporates vigorous vinyasa sequences, chanting, and music to create a transformative and immersive experience.

Jivamukti Yoga classes often include themes inspired by ancient yogic texts, environmental activism, and ethical living. The teachings encourage practitioners to cultivate compassion, mindfulness, and a deep connection to all living beings.

The asana practice in Jivamukti Yoga is characterized by a flowing and vigorous style, often accompanied by uplifting music. It incorporates a wide range of yoga poses, including standing, seated, balancing, twisting, and inverted postures. The sequences are intelligently designed to create a balanced and well-rounded practice that strengthens the body, increases flexibility, and cultivates mindfulness.

One of the distinguishing features of Jivamukti Asana practice is the emphasis on alignment and proper technique. Teachers guide students to align their bodies in a way that promotes stability, safety, and optimal energy flow. This attention to alignment helps students deepen their practice and prevent injuries.

This creative yoga style, originally developed by Patrick Beach and Carling Harps, truly lives up to its slogan of „feel good yoga.“ Even the more demanding classes make you feel empowered and inspired.

The Awakening Yoga Style encompasses various focuses, including strength, mobility, flexibility, and restorative practices.

During these retreats, participants can expect to experience creative vinyasa flows as well as more mellow classes, allowing for a deeper exploration of relaxation and restoration.

Yoga Nidra, also known as „yogic sleep,“ is a powerful practice that promotes deep relaxation and rejuvenation. Originating from ancient yogic traditions, Yoga Nidra guides practitioners into a state of conscious sleep, where the body and mind can experience profound rest and healing.

During a Yoga Nidra session, individuals lie down in a comfortable position and are guided through a systematic meditation. The practice involves deep relaxation techniques, breath awareness, and visualization, allowing practitioners to enter a state of deep relaxation while remaining fully aware.

The benefits of Yoga Nidra are numerous. It helps reduce stress, anxiety, and insomnia, while improving overall well-being and mental clarity. Regular practice of Yoga Nidra can enhance creativity, boost immune function, and promote emotional balance.
