Summer Solstice
& Culinary Retreat

19 - 25 June 2022, Málaga Spain, FULLY BOOKED

Path of the Sun – The Sun is often used as a metaphor for consciousness, because its rays of light dispels darkness – spiritual ignorance. In yogic philosophy spiritual ignorance is to not recognise the essence of who we truly are, and since we’re unable to recognise the divinity within us we’re even less likely to recognise it in each other.

Yoga is a rich and extensive experience, and one of the recurring themes in the teaching of yoga is that of Vidya, right knowledge. We move towards vidya when we bring our body and mind into balance, which requires a commitment to a healthy diet (food & information), mindful movement and pranayama to support the energetic flow of prana in our bodies, and spiritual inquiry through the study of ancient texts and the practice of meditation.

Each morning will start with chanting, meditation & pranayama, followed by a deep & purposeful asana practice. The afternoons will alternate between workshops and satsangs, to explore and discuss the physical, physiological and philosophical aspects of practice in more detail.

When you’re not on your yoga mat, you are invited to join the series of culinary workshops that are unique to this retreat. There will be plenty of down-time to go for a stroll, sunbathe, swim in the sea and read.

The self-aware being realises that all other beings are reflections of herself, as she is also a reflection of them, and that all are reflections of the one Self.

about the place

Surrounded by mountains and sea, Casa Erica is very peacefully located on the coast of Andalusia, between Málaga and Nerja. It’s only a 600m walk to the beach.  While being warmed by the sun you will enjoy the view over the countryside and the ocean. Between the yoga classes you can chill at the pool, enjoy a relaxing massage or discover the surroundings.

There is a lot to discover around Casa Erica. Once a week you can join a hike through cliffs, that ends at a hidden beach. At the weekly market you can buy souvenirs and culinary delights.

The Costa del Sol has a micro climate because it is sheltered from the northern winds by the Sierra Nevada. The sub-tropical vegetation brings us mediterranean and tropical fruits such as avocados, guavas, cherimoyas, figs or passion fruit, depending on the time of the year – enriching our retreat menu. Discover the location.
